My sister got fired from her job today

For "insubordination". Bastards.

They worked her to death to the point where she had to have surgery on her shoulder. She has been telling me for a long time that they were trying to get rid of everybody there with medical benefits, and now it seems they have succeeded.

They will replace them with temps (illegal immigrants probably- nothing against them - just against the bastards that exploit them) with no rights and no healthcare.

The thing that got my sister fired? She took a day off, which she had an absolute right to do, she had the vacation/personal days to do it, they didn't like her REASON. Which was, well, my shoulder hurts bigtime and you have no work for me.

Insubordination part is they wrote her up for that, and she went in and signed the papers, and then threw them on their desk. and said "fine". With ratchet jaw in place. haha. OMG. God forbid you should be IMPERTINENT to the corporate masters.

Well, she's right. They were looking for an excuse to get rid of her, and they did. I told her to contest it re unemploynment. She says "oh I will" but we all know where that's going to go.

I myself have the fourth miserable cold of the winter, and my company awards banquet is tomorrow. Where I am expected to go and tell them how wonderful they are. And I'm sick as a dog. And why, you ask, do I have the FOURTH cold of this winter when I used to never get colds? Well maybe unrelenting stress and constant worry over my OWN job has something to do with it. I am going to that awards banquet if I have to drag myself there, if only for the privilege of playing kissyface with all bosses, and spreading the plague around for everyone to enjoy. Hahaha.

And eating the prime rib dinner. Which I actually won't be able to taste, because I have a horrible cold.

Sorry this one is such a downer. A coworker of mine (26 years old) says "I am such a cynic/jaded." I tell him, yeah well you and I are about the same level of cynic/jaded, just that it took me 55 years to get there, and you're only 26". Hahaha

These corporations are the enemy of all American workers. And at the same time, we depend on them for our livelihood. And they want to make slaves out of us. Or out of the third world suckers they find to replace us. Gahhhhhh.

I'm sorry. Just a little ranty tonight. Miserable cold, and now I have to keep this one secret from Mom and Dad until Sis is ready to tell it.
